You want photos, we got photos

There appears to be an alarming tendency to post photos with blog entries in order to divert attention away from banal and stultifying narratives. Here at OGWND we stridently decry such tactics and vow that any photos posted will be germane to the issue being discussed.

Happy World Egg Day!

Thank you for remembering this special day! But, how did these characters get so close to one of our sacred national monuments? Where are the Park Rangers, why aren't they in the picture making an arrest or doing something useful?

Nice positioning of your photo and text, good use of the media. It's perfect, not scrambled, over easy and fluffy!

Thank you, yb, for this effusive and unsolicited outpouring of praise. However, none of our sacred national monuments were harmed in the taking of that picture. What you see in the background is the Obelisk of Buenos Aires, built in May 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city.

This is one of those raree opportunites to say, 'I've been there!" I thought it was a shameless rip off of our Washington Monument. Little did I know the ancient Egyptians had patented the design several years earlier.

Buenos Aires is also famous for its dog poop.

PS: I think your derrogatory words concerning pictures were aimed directly at me. Sadness overtakes me.

Far be it from me, oh garaged one, to denigrate the visual aspect of your ministry. There would only be room for criticism if my written output exceeded yours SC! That it took me this long to figure out the image upload thing speaks volumes!

Well someone needs to straighten him out! His graphics are a menace to all bloggerdom: his pictures are blurry, they are not germane and they are improperly sized so they push the text around and are too big to download in a reasonable time. Someone help him before he grinds the entire Internet to a halt!

I suspect that "blog police" is really the Yak trying to avoid posting to his own blog!

Dear Blog Police,

I know! I know! (except for the "not germane" issue) That's why I've hired help. It's taken too long, I know.
But I do want to remedy these things.

How come I don't have downloading issues? Are you using a Palm Pilot or something? Is this the issue?

-SC (I'm number 4,590,270th, so I try harder!)

The downloading issue refers to the fact that your pictures are too big. All the pics down to the bottom of the page have to load simultaneously when the page is brought up or refreshed. It's cumulative. A rule of thumb is to keep each of your pics below 30K. You can resize them using any number of free downloadable programs. A good one is at www dot picasa dot com. Also, I notice that your pictures are linked to other sites. This is fine except if and when the link becomes broken, then your pic disappears from your blog. A better way to do this is to download the pic you want to your hard drive by right clicking on it and then clicking on Save This Image. Then you can resize it and then upload it to your blog.

Dear BlogMaster 2.0,

thank you. I didn't know any of that.
I knew it was too easy. Now I will have to figure out what you said.
Please feel free to post your advice on the SC. It is freindly advice and even my overwhelming paranoia is not offended. What's more, because Mr. Ogg does not post as often as he really should, (Something about having a job, I imagine.) I don't drop by here every day like I do the other sacred members of Quadblog, USA. They've also cut way back on their output. Yes, I fear they have actual "lives" and this leaves me, alone to fill the enormous void they have left behind.

Yes, I'm aware that they counted 100 million websites, including blogs, this week. But I've looked at most of them and found not one offers the kind of service to ALL humanity, not just the "sane" ones, as the Quadblog, anchored and inspired by yours truly. I can't do it alone.
I need your technical expertise and a coctail waitress like the kind they have at Hooters. I've never been to a Hooters, but I imagine they have some pretty little women there and I'm going to get me one.
(Or was that Kansas City?)

Thanks again!
